THE CROATIAN TOWN OF ZADAR, LOCATED ON THE ADRIATIC, WAS ONE OF ANCIENT ROME’S MOST IMPORTANT PROVINCES. TWO THOUSAND YEARS LATER, EVIDENCE OF ROMAN CULTURE CAN BE SEEN THROUGHOUT THE TOWN – FROM THE AQUEDUCT, TO THE FORUM, TO THIS GATE, WHICH WAS THE MAIN ENTRY WAY TO THE THRIVING PORT TOWN. IT’S NOT DIFFICULT TO FIND ROMAN ARTIFACTS IN ZADAR. THEY ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE FIELDS, AND WASH UP ON THE SURROUNDING BEACHES. MOST OF THESE ARTIFACTS ARE SO COMMONPLACE THEY HAVE LITTLE VALUE. BUT OCCASIONALLY OBJECTS ARE DISCOVERED THAT ARE A BIT MORE MYSTERIOUS…
